If you’re planning on creating content chances are you’ve wanted to see what other bloggers are writing in your niche. There are numerous ways to get this information however a lot of the time it requires a premium subscription to an expensive SEO tool that you may not be ready to fully utilize.
One of the easiest ways to get all of the pages of a website is simply to load it through a website called https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
How to use XML Sitemaps
The main reason this website exists is to help you generate a list of URLs (aka your XML sitemap) for your own site so that you can upload it to Google. This helps ensure that Google knows where all your pages are so that you can actually rank in the search engine results.
Instead, simply add the website of a blog that you want to do some research on and easily get ideas for your own content planning.
Here’s how to get started.
- Go to https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
- Copy the URL of the website in your niche and paste it into the field (see screenshot below) where it says Your Website URL
- Click the Start button
After a minute or two, depending on the size of the website, you’ll see a success message like this:
This website has published 157 pages (not all of them are articles or blogs).
Click View Sitemap Details and you’ll see a list of all of the URLs for that website you entered. Right away, you can see all of the categories that this blog creates articles for. This information can help you plan similar content categories or at least help inform which ones to research.
Continue to repeat with all of the websites in your niche and you can get an idea of what to write for your blog.
